Voglio ringraziare Barcellona e le centinaia di persone che hanno fatto esercizio di memoria e simbolizzato un crimine infame. Il 29 gennaio 2026 la città di Barcellona ha impresso il volto di Hind Rajab sulla materia di una tela di mille metri quadrati. Questo atto di restituzione iconografica avviene sulla spiaggia di Somorrostro. Esso trasforma un luogo di passaggio in uno spazio di testimonianza politica.
Questa tela rappresenta un’opposizione fisica al silenzio internazionale. Essa agisce come un correttivo alla cecità delle istituzioni europee. Hind Rajab è morta in un’auto dopo ore di attesa e isolamento tra i corpi dei suoi familiari. Quella lesione nel sistema di soccorso internazionale trova oggi una risposta nella mobilitazione popolare. Ringrazio ancora i creatori di questa opera e la comunità di Barcellona per aver scelto di non assecondare l’oblio come invece certi intellettuali o senatori vorrebbero.
Conserviamo queste foto a futura memoria, memoria non selettiva, condividiamole. La visibilità di questo ritratto impedisce che la storia di Hind Rajab venga rimossa dai registri della nostra coscienza collettiva.
